Have you seen this page:

This might answer some of these questions, or at least keep you busy
until I (or more likely, someone else) understands your message. Once
we get down into switch configuration land, I usually bow out until
the next software problem.

Indeed, we usually tell people in this situation to construct their
first emulab outside the walls so that we can help, and then move it
inside.
