Hi Brecht,
Hi all,

thank you very much for the feedback and the patches - looking forward to using the code!

best regards,
Zdravko

Hi Robert,

okay, we'll clean up some code and submit it (should have been done before, but we had a personnel switch some time ago).

Brecht

Brecht, for you and others: we're very happy to take patches, and would
by happy to include them in the official release (esp. if they can be
done in such a way as to minimize the chance that things break for site
that don't need support for that device, etc.) We're even willing to
give commit access in our CVS repo to external developers who have
demonstrated that they will submit high-quality patches and be careful about not breaking things. The DETER folks, in particular, have provided
a lot of useful code that's part of the standard release now, and so
we've given Keith at Berkley commit privileges.

Dear Zdravko,

at IBBT (http://ilabt.ibbt.be/) we are running a 100 node emulab with
IPMI cards (supermicro servers).
We have written some modules for this and of course are happy to share this.

Brecht

Hello,

we are planning to set up an Emulab based testbed at our institute, consisting of approximately 40 nodes, and are currently considering the various hardware alternatives.

I have a question regarding the remote managed power controllers - if we install IPMI management cards in our servers, would it be possible to use these to power servers on/off, and just use standard power strips? In the Wiki, IPMI is mentioned only briefly, so I assume that the Emulab software does not support it out of the box - so my question is, do you believe that the approach to use IPMI is feasible? Do you know if something similar has been done before and how difficult do you think it will be to incorporate the IPMI support in the software?

Any info on the matter would be appreciated - many thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Zdravko
