Hello to everyone!!
Is it just me, or have these guys went through a
transformation over night? Hunter is HUGE! His fur is wirery and
long, his feathers have come in on his legs and he is turning strawberry in
color. He is doing very well with the kids and learning very well with the
field lessons we are doing. He is a bird freak!! Sits out in the field
like a cat, crowches down into the grass then does this pounce thing.
Hysterical! Another funny thing, he has discoverd the fish tank! He sits very
attentivly watching then he starts barking, the fish all line up at the glass
and stare at him. Pretty funny He is becoming socially acceptable as
far as not biting and jumping up quite so much. Sleeps in the bedroom
without the crate. He couldn't get comfortable, he prefers to sleep
stretched out as far as he can and the crate limits him so he crys, but
then lays down right outside of the crate in his stretched out or on his back,
legs flopped out to the side and snoring loudly! Does any of this
sound familiar to you and your babies?
One question though?? Is it to early to get him to
retrieve?? He will chase it sometimes, but will get almost to you and run the
other way, I have tried the treat thing, but he just drops it and comes running
for the treat, then there is nothing that you can do to change his train of
thought, he wants food and he will not go after some stupid ball for nothing!!
Food reward does not work for him, because he is obsessed with it. He
cannot manage to think about food and anything else at the same time. I
don't know what to do?? We don't want to push him. So we only do it when
he is interested and not for very long, we try to stop before the game gets
boring to him. He would rather just chase Sasha around or use our
picnic table as a toothpick. HELP!! OH GURU'S OF GOLDEN
RETRIEVERS!!!!!!!!!!
Talk with you all soon!
