Hi everyone,
Monza had his rabies shot & finished up
the series this morning. He weighed in at a hefty 28+ pounds. He's a little porker after spending the
weekend with my mom. I went to give him a treat this morning &
the biscuit barrel just had a few crumbs in it - UNBELIEVABLE! Mom and I
will be having the old "break up the Iams bone into pieces" talk again.
This was the first time sinced I picked him up from
Ilene that we've been separated for any length of time. I guess he waited
at the basement door for me after Craig and I scooted out.....talk about break
my heart.
He changed in the 3 days while I was gone. I know, I
see it more because I wasn't with him the entire time, but still it is
remarkable! He now has some darker, wavy fur running down the
middle of his back. His nose is wider with a larger jaw (teeth
are spaced out) and his head structure changed & grew. He's only
lost one of the front teeth, of course when I was gone. He has also taken
to doing something weird with one of his adorable ears - it sort of sways back
compared to the other one. No problems inside of his ear to cause this
(although the little hairs way down in the canel may be tickling him) and the
cartilage feels symetrical. I think he's just being a weirdo again.
He is a HAM!
Monza could sprawl in the sand & swim in Lake
Superior all day. He doesn't mind his pool, either. (Oh yeah - we're
doing the cleaning & drying of ears. I just switched from some kind of
Foster's brand pad to Epiotic that's a cleaner &
dryer.) He's an absolute ball of energy, Wal-Mart greeter that
is extremely food motivated, which is a good thing when it comes to puppy class
& training. I can't speak highly enough about puppy class - it's
fantastic. He is very dominate & he also likes to mouth people
more than toys or anything else. The class has greatly helped us combate
these things. He's made friends with an Anatolian Shepherd, Black
Lab, and Dalmation....although, the little attention-getter has a tendency to
want people attention more than puppy play. While the rest of the pups are
tumbling around, he flashes those baby browns at someone in return for a
bellyrub. I've actually had to remind him a few times to go & play
with his "fellow" pups.
He's tried to consume, sometimes
successfully, quite an array of things. Although, he's not into
tearing apart his toys (KNOCK on wood!). Of all things, wild
strawberries threw his tummy over the edge. He now relishes blueberries
and thimbleberries without a problem - yep, picks them right off the bush &
can smell them yards away! It took about a week to get his stomach back on
an even keel & then he ate part of a sponge. He flew past me
with something & hid - I'm about to get him a cape. Hydrogen
perioxide works wonders. Here's a tip, though, it might take a few
minutes....it was just long enough for me to think nothing was going to come up
& I stopped corralling him in the kitchen. He then shot for
the carpet & puked.
I'm getting more pictures developed for you, Gina.
I've been dragging my heels - sorry - in getting new pictures to send along
with the crate. Ummm - I'd bake a cake or something to include, but I
don't think it would be mighty tasty after the trip....
Hope all is going well everywhere else....
Lyn
