Hi all, I just used the cleaning stuff called  "Dermapet" that I got from my 
previous vet. It 
has a drying agent and some antinflammatory properties, it basically does the 
same thing as the mixture Gina suggested but it smells better.   Actually, it 
seems to work quite well. , However it is nice to have that recipe from Gina. 
  I have another medication called Sinotic, although didn't use it on Ripley. 
 The cleaning daily seems to help. I would have made a vet appt for tomorrow 
if  Ripley didn't already have one.  So naturally her ears will be checked 
and will get some other opinions.  I want to add that it isn't just the 
smell, she had the same redness and crustiness I saw with Kryten and all that 
seems to have gone, so I figure the treatment is working.
