Thanks for sharing this web site. I really
enjoyed reading your story and I am looking forward to many wonderful years as a
Golden owner. We have only had Kobe, our rescue baby, for over a
month. He has enriched our lives and has been a perfect addition to our
family. Kobe will be 1 year old the end of next month and I put him
on the birthday list so his picture will be up!! :-)

Hi All, I have been very busy, but got this site from a friend, below is
some correspondance that I have had with the owner of the site, I shared an
experience with them and it seems that our Sasha is going to be on their Hero
page. Well deserved for our girl, without her, we may not have our son
with us today. I hope you all can go visit this site, it really is a
good one.

a picture I already have of Sasha and Austin, I will take their picture on
the slide and send it when I get it back( which may be a while ) Here
are some specifics on the day, it was the summer of 1998, I think it was
early August but not positive, our son's name is Austin Jackson, our
friends son is Zachary Oguri and we live in Sandy, OR The
picture is really grainy I hope it is not to bad. Let me know if I
need to send it snail mail. It would be nice to get a digital
camera, but one of those things that have to go at the bottom of a very
long list of wants!!!!<smile> I belong to a list of golden
retriever owners that have all bought their dogs through a specific
breeder here in Oregon. We share about our dogs and their
experiences. ( We also have a 1 year old golden from this
breeder) I would love to share your site with them, is it ok if I
send the link to the list? We are true golden lovers and is the only
type of dog my husband has had all of his life. Our 17 year old
golden died 2 years ago and miss him, it is only after his death that I
found this huge network for others that like me think these dogs are
beyond special. Thanks for your devotion to the breed!!!!Carol

Darcy: I am not sure I am sending this to the
right person, but my friend directed me to this site and suggested I
tell you how my Golden saved my 5 year old son's life. I am sure
you get thousands of stories, but this is ours. Sasha was a rescue dog
from our local animal shelter, they have an adoption center at the
local mall where we found her, she had been beat and did not trust
people all that well, after 2 years of love she started to come out of
her shell. We had friends over for dinner and the boys were out
on the play structure and we were in the house getting dinner
ready. Our friends son came running in and said help
us!!!! We ran outside and our son was hanging by his neck from a
bungie cord. He was half on the slide and half off the slide,
but could not get back up. His face was purple his eyes were
popping out of his scull so far it still makes me shudder when I think
about it. Well Sasha was on the slide with her nails dug into
the plastic pushing him with all her might back up into the play
structure. She was just getting the bungie to loosen when we
came out. If it would not have been for her, I think that he
would have died. We thank God that she was there to help loosen
the bungie and our friends son had the common sense to come tell us
what was going on. It was that day on that she completely came
out of her shell. She is the most loving and smart dog we have
ever had. We really do think she was sent to us for a reason and
thank her everyday for being our hero. It has been almost 3
years since the incident and still remember it like it was yesterday,
we show people the gouges in the slide when ever we retell the story,
our son is just fine, he had terriable ligature marks and broken blood
vessels in his eyes and around them, but he learned a valuable lesson
about playing with things that may be dangerous. And we learned that
even simple things can be very dangerous. Thanks for your time,
I would love to add her to your list of heros, please contact me if
your interested, if not I am proud to have shared our story with
another Golden lover. Sincerely,Carol Jacksonthejacksonsfour@msn.com

What a wonderful story. Yes, you came to the right place and for
more reasons than I can even tell you right now. I will surely place
this story up at my heroes page. Could you provide a little more info
like: your city & state; the date this actually occurred; your son's
name; his friend's name; etc. If you could get me photos of Sasha and
the actual slide, that would be great as well. Let me know if you email
these or whether you need to snail mail them, so that I can provide you
with an address.
I agree that Sasha was sent to you for a reason and do believe that
these Goldens are merely angels in disguise.

Oh, I am so jealous. 17 years is a great life for one of these Golden
angels. The picture is fine. I can photoedit it so that it looks just fine.
I can't wait to put up your story and to let folks know about it. I have a
mailing list of well over a 1,000 Golden lovers! Don't worry about that
other picture. I will put up the story without it but think it is a great
visual reminder of what took place.
Here is some information that you can share with others about my site:
I have been working on this site for close to three years now and with
800+ pages and still counting, it never seems to end. Take time to really
explore the many facets of Golden life that I try to present. It is always
fun at the beginning with these Golden powder puffs, but taking care of our
Golden gems takes some time and a real commitment. Only getting to share in
our lives for such a short time span, we must always strive to provide the
best lives for them. And, then when our loves must say good-bye as they have
finally earned their Golden wings, we need to know how to heal before once
again bringing new Gold into our lives. Take time to
share in our family, from Ollie (who will always remain in charge, if only
in spirit now) to our newest member, Little Lord Alfie. Their galleries can
be found at http://landofpuregold.com/gallery.htm
. And, Ollie's special tribute can be found at http://landofpuregold.com/lossd.htm
. To become an actual, permanent part of our Land of
PureGold, just go to http://landofpuregold.com/wow.htm
and see the many ways you can share your Golden family with ours. To always
stay up on our latest news and additions, check in at New Nuggets of Gold
(http://landofpuregold.com/new.htm).
I truly hope to see you soon through my pages, as I
never tire of seeing more and more Golden photos and reading more and more
touching Golden tales. It is surely what keeps me going!
