[Testbed-admins] Freebsd MFS with NFE support
Hello,
We have several nodes in our testbed
that have the NFE NICs which the latest publicly available MFS freebsd
images do not support.
When I created a new kernel for the
MFS image I was able to get the freebsd MFS image to load completely on
those nodes. However, the imagezip/imageunzip applications don't work properly
on the new image I made (both on the nodes with the NFE NICs and on other
nodes that work fine with the original freebsd MFS).
The imagezip process runs to completion
but when I try to run imageunzip on any image created on the new MFS I
get an immediate "inflate error=-3". It is able to inflate images
that were created already on the original freebsd MFS just fine though.
I thought it might be a driver problem
or checksum offloading issue so I disabled checksum offloading on the nodes
with the NFE NICs and still same problem.
I then tried the new image on other
pc node types that were known to work with the original freebsd MFS with
the same error results.
I just downloaded the latest tftpboot
images and the freebsd62 MFS image there does not have support for the
NFE NICs.
How difficult and what would the process
be to create a new freebsd MFS based on at least the 7-RELEASE version
which includes NFE support by default?
Otherwise, is there documentation floating
around about the process of creating new MFS images based on a new Freebsd
release?
Thanks!
