Re: swimming

Gina & all,

I remember the first time Jake & Chelsea came down here to AZ from Oregon 4 years ago...  Rick could not interest them in the pool at all.  It was only after several different attempts on separate occasions and him literally "carrying" them into the pool and being in the pool with them... that they got the hang of it.  Both Jake & Chels were only 1 at the time & had not been exposed to water prior to that (well, with the exception of the rain & mud in Oregon, their baths & a play pool I had for them when they were puppies).  Michelob & Austin were already "experienced" swimmers and once Jake & Chels saw them having so much fun... they decided that it wasn't too bad!  Now, we can't keep them from wanting to go swimming!  It is one of their favorite things in life!!!

The deal on swimming is this it takes time and usually a good reason to
swim.  How we train ours to swim is to get them in a group of dogs get the
excitement level up and just not worry about it.  Most of ours learn to
swim or be left behind or left out.
