Off dog brag-sort of :-)

We were just informed that George was awarded Sailor of The Year for the
Portland Reserve Center. Besides being recognized for his accomplishments
with in his duties as First Class Petty Officer (his title) community
service is another criteria that is considered.

Dog wise the work he does with our dogs was well received by the panel of
officers who chose him over 80 other nominated individuals. That list
includes the work he has put into rescue efforts since we first became
involved with Golden Bond in 1995, the TDI certification and the work in
training the dogs to be able to obtain this certification. His commitment
to public education about not only the golden retriever as a breed but
responsible dog ownership in general.

He has now been entered into a bigger competition: REDCOM 22 which is our
regional division covering 13 states including Alaska, give or take a
couple. If he is awarded Sailor of The Year for the region it's onto
Sailor of the Year Navy wide. A Navy Achievement Metal has already been
placed in his file, however Sailor of The Year navy wide comes with a
automatic meritorious advancement to E-7 Chief Petty Officer. George has
been in the navy for 23 years, nine of those years were active duty before
we met.

I am extremely proud of George and wanted to share this with all of
you. However don't think for a minute I am not ragging him about it
though,,, brown noser. <smile> Keep telling him I will tell them all he
doesn't pick up the dog poop... <LOL>

Have a Golden Day!
