Welcome to the list! I'm piping in quickly about
the mushroom question. Our older dog, Coco,
had an acute episode of serious liver problems
that we think was related to eating mushrooms
from our backyard. Her liver has since tested
fine and Bogey--our Brier Golden--doesn't seem
interested. One method that we've used successfully
to control the shrooms in our yard has been
sprinkling powdered laundry detergent all over the
place--like spreading dry fertilizer/lawn food. It
won't hurt the lawn or the dogs but has really kept
our mushroom population down. It's a tip we learned
from Jerry Baker, the natural yard care guy.
I am so very glad to hear that Hunter is doing well--
both on his liver panel and his biopsy, Carol! That
is excellent news.
Take care all, Lori and crew

I have a question about mushrooms. I just picked up a tidbit about dogs
eating mushrooms in an earlier post, but I must not have been privy to
the earlier communication on this. Just this past month we have been
having a ton of large brown curvy mushrooms growing in our dog run in
the gravel area. I've been chopping them down and discarding them as
soon as I see them. Can they be dangerous to our dogs? What is the best
way to get rid of these pesky things? We didn't have these in Kansas!!!
