good news for all of you!

One and All,

I recently became aware of a study group that is trying to find reason/rime to why the GR is affected by CHD (canine hip dysplasia) and Juvenile Cataracts.  Since our dogs are all healthy with never a reported case of cataracts and only one known dysplastic dog a Meg sister I wrote offering DNA samples of ours including suggesting that all of you would comply as well... <smile>

We were rejected and here is why!  Feel good about this rejection!  I was enquiring as to the cost as I was willing to cost share if it was not too much. :-)

>>Dear Gina,

Thank you for your willingness to participate in our research on Golden Retrievers.  Research is completely free to participates.  We need, however, families in which there are two or more dogs diagnosed with either Hip Dysplasia or Juvenile Cataracts.  We collect DNA samples from these dogs, as well as the closely unaffected relatives to the affected dogs.  It looks like you have been fortunate with the lack of these problems.<<

My answer to the foundation:

Yes very fortunate and god willing with the help of foundations such as yours my good luck hopefully in the future will be not just luck!  Though I do dig as much as possible when doing breedings and working with in the soundest lines I can find.  I do not heavily line breed or ever in breed at all.
