Haus and BARF
Hi All,
September 8, 2000
Haus is status quo today for the most part. If there is any improvement
it's he does have a stronger pain response I think in his front paw. I
pinch his toes. <smile> He is learning to compensate and has gotten up on
his own taken a few steps. If nothing else this dog has the will to
live. He is very bright and full of himself.
He has a couple of visitors today and he just made such a fuss! Greeting
and scolding begging to be loved on and really liked the treats he was
given. Homemade cookies just for him from his personal massage therapist
Lisa. Lisa has volunteered to give Haus massage in an effort to help him
recover. Today she showed me a few things to do for him.
He also enjoys playing with TRiX who is being very gentle with him. I
think it's good for him to have activity. We are moving the whelping box
into the living room to provide him with a place to be nearer to us as in
able to see us.
I wrote to Dr. Billinghurst today asking about diet since I do not want to
be giving him RMB's right now as I don't want to make demands on his system
since he is not getting much exercise. Thought I would share with you his
response. As usual it's simple just go back to the basics...
I will close leaving you with Dr. B's note,
Gina
From Dr B:
Always return to basics. He needs a totally ground up food. Content?
Proportions? Simple - 60 percent rmb's, 20 percent vegetables, 5 percent
fruit, ten percent offal, together with kelp, yoghurt and nutritional oils,
with necessary vitamins etc for the remainder. Because the problem is
neurological, feed lots of brains in the offal, feed ground up necks for the
rmb's, add in herbs which are good for nerves [eg rosemary], taurine
supplements, plenty of vitamin E, and don't forget the B vitamins and C of
course.
sincerely
Ian Billinghurst
