United Air-PETA-PM's
Hi All,
I wanted to share with you the letter I wrote to United Airlines this
morning and ask that each of you take a few minutes to add your input to
the below addressees. Please note I am calling for a boycott of
United Airlines by all who share the concerns of the many with respect to
the whole big picture here. United Air is directly supporting PETA
and puppy mills perhaps inadvertently but perhaps not? You
can see suggested sample letters prepared by the AKC at:

This is solely my opinion,

As a hobby breeder who on occasion finds it necessary to ship/travel with
my dogs for reasons of showing and or placement in new homes I am
concerned about your recent exertion of the embargo. As well I run
a small private rescue and on occasion need to ship a homeless animal to
either insure it's safety into my care or to unite the dog with a new
loving family.
I support safe air travel for animals and agree that you/we should
not transport animals when temperatures are outside safe limits or
under other conditions compromising the animals well being. However, to
simply put in place an embargo is not an acceptable or reasonable or
responsible solution to assuring safety of animals, nor does it support
responsible breeding. This more supports the actions of animal
rights activists such as PETA who are fanatics with an agenda that is as
well appalling such as killing innocent animals purely because they
are pure bred. As well you are directly supporting puppy
mills.
It's my understanding that United will ship for "know
shippers". This however doesn't apply to me as I only travel
with my dogs or find it necessary to ship dogs for breeding or placement
with rare occasion as I am again a responsible hobby breeder. You
are again I stress supporting puppy mills and compromising the
efforts of the responsible breeders as well as setting a precedence for
other carries to do the same. Thousand of poorly bred animals are shipped
via air yearly and offered for sale in retail outlets. These are
often the dogs that find their way into my care through my rescue
efforts. Your support of this practice is appalling. As well
as your direct refusal to support those of us who do care about our
animals and only want what is safe for them who will comply with in
reasonable parameters of safety first.
In light of the above I would hope that United Airlines will re think
this embargo and seek the assistance of the AKC or others to develop
policies that enable passengers to travel with their animals and to allow
those of us who do really care about our chosen breeds to be able to
continue to ship heathy animals in a continued effort to educate the
general public about responsible breeding and the appalling practices
of organizations such as but not limited to PETA and puppy mills
you are as well supporting.
In closing until United Airlines does rectify this situation I for one
call for a full boycott of your Airline and will be vocal about this via
the internet.
Sincerely,
Gina Heitz
