Gina,

Loves and kisses from us and a speedy recovery for Scarlette!!
We had our own little shock today when I found a worm in Milka's poop.  It turns out to be roundworm and the vet is putting Milka on medication so they tell me not to worry.  Needless to say, I was a spazzed out mom this morning....

Don't know if the rest of the Casino gang got it but at least keep an eye out.

Hugs, Karin, Carl and Wormy (aka Milka)

Karin,

Thanks for the well wishes.  Scarlette is much much better today.  We were at the vet a 8:00 AM showing off how well she is feeling, no need for her to be there today and I am sure she is glad...  Home is always nicer...  She is eating and snoozing and has brought me a
ball. :-))  Her temp this morning was back up to normal 102 so we are no longer in fear of her being toxic.  A low temp can be just as bad as a high temp, Scarlette was fairly low at 99.2 at one point, which indicates toxic...

On the round worms:  READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL!   Ha ha ha, got ya! :-))

Guys, read the material, that is why I gave it to you!  In an effort to keep you from being concerned when things do come up.  Common things such as but not limited to round worms.  There is a wealth of information put together in the Go Home Book, it's a collective of a lot of years and a lot of puppies, not just mine...   From your Go home book I quote: (typo's and all)

                  Roundworms:

All puppies have roundworms.  They are born with them these are the only worms other than tape worms that can be seen in a fecal sample with the eye.  They look like spegitti  where tape worms caused by flea's look like rice.  Your puppy has been wormed several times but can possibly keep passing rounds and re infecting himself.  This is why I strongly recommend that you keep your puppy on Interceptor for the first year of his life. Interceptor is marketed as a heart worm preventive and in the North West we are only at about a 3% heart worm infection status this wormer is indicated to control not only heart worms but many others such as rounds, hooks, whips.   Heart Guard Plus brand of heart worm protection is not effective against rounds though the company may say it is.  The amount of Ivomec in the preparation is not sufficient to control rounds.  Please refer to this web site for detailed information on Roundworms.

With that revisited, if puppies are not on the above protocol and or your vets are not worming them at shot time then they are not doing their job and I would venture to say they would have rounds.  If not on a protocol worming for rounds every 3 weeks is a normal corse and is usually included in most vet's shot protocol through the shot series.
