Re: Peggy??? Class???

OK Gina - now who is the brat :-)
1st step in clicker training (ct) is teaching the puppy that every time they
hear a click they get a treat. Well Katie caught on to that real quick - she
just has to see the clicker and she gets all excited. Don't know how much
folks know about ct, but at first you don't use any commands - it's all
nonverbal. You click and treat when you see the behavior you want, or you
can lure them to help them understand what you're wanting. Commands are
added later. So far Katie does - sit, down, and touch her nose to my hand.
She thinks it's pretty neat, and so do I, but I'll be glad when I can add
words, it seems odd (but effective to train this way) The class is small
with 3 puppies and 3 adult dogs. The dogs are pretty much obedience
trained, and the owners want them to learn ct for tricks and to make
training more fun. The best part about the class for Katie, was she finally
got to play with a puppy close to her size and age. She keeps trying to get
Kip and the cats to play at home, but so far I'm the only one who will play
with her, and not nearly as fun, in her opinion, as other four leggeds.
Hope everyone's doing well, haven't heard much from the rest of the Casino
parents... It feels a little awkward to be "newsy" after last Tuesday. But
also important to pay attention to our daily lives.....
Peggy
