Hi Carol, I lost a lovely 8 year old flowering dogwood to Sophie at that age, and Boomer is starting on my 10 year old Lilac! What I did that seemed to have worked for awhile was to spray Bitter Apple plant formula all over the lower branches of the lilac. And then I hid and watched the fun. Poor Boomer. He could not believe his mouth. That lilac BIT him, lol. I have had to reapply it of course, fairly often, but I've been pleased with the results so far. Hunter has had a grand time in the flower beds in the last two days. Eaten my 20 year old lace leaf maple almost to the ground, a very nice coral bark maple has also met its maker. He seems to know which plants are poisionus because he does not touch them. He digs holes and only in the nice flower beds not in the numerous bad ones. Is there a way to convince him to not do the plant chewing? |
