I used the 2.6.25 patch from Utah on a 2.6.27 kernel , Do you think it must have been the patch ?

man , since it did not give me errors on the kernel compile plus ipod started up fine, i thought it worked ... :(

Yes, this isn't good.  Please send me (directly) your patch and mention exactly
which kernel src you're applying to, and I'll take a look.
