Punch

I got several notes from people asking how Punch is doing so excuse the mass mail but it's about all I have time for right now with puppies and all...

Some of you on this list though probably do not even know that Punch has been sick. She had to have her eye removed in 1997 after a tumor was found behind her eye. This was before she lived with us... A few weeks ago she got an abscess above her eye. The thought was that she just got something imbedded causing the abscess or hopefully that was what we were dealing with. She was treated with Baytril, antibiotics and all seemed to go well. Then about three weeks after she was healed she began to swell again, off to the vet last Friday - We did a biopsy and Doug put in a drain. He is thinking the tumor has gone necrotic (dead) and that what we are dealing with is fluid build up from this happening. This is not good - just what it means I am not sure at this point - no one is, but we are doing what we can to help matters... Here is where we are now:

Punch went to the vet today for a recheck, Doug was happy with her condition the drain area looks good. But the biopsy is not back yet so we do not have any results yet. Should hear something in a few days... Overall Punch is doing fine, enjoying the extra car rides and all the attention... She is such a trooper, and such a love... We are hopeful that this is just going to be one of those old dog minor set backs and that we will be able to deal with this medically as surgery is probably not an option...

So with that I wanted to fill you in on what's up here in the event that we loose Punch sooner than we want to as I know she has a huge fan club out there... Also one of Punch's daughters got a jam at the field trial this past week at the Golden Retriever National Specialty! We are very proud of that and we told her all about it and she seemed to be rally happy too - or maybe it was the cookies I was holding? :-))
