Subject: Ahhhh... the life of Michelob!
(and Gina) :-)
First of all, let me say to Gina... "I hope this is OK" to
send a photo to the list (I made the jpeg smaller). I know how much Gina
loves our Mich... :-)
Ya gotta luv the senior kidz & how they
luv life!!! Here is Mich on his pool floatie enjoying the day
yesterday! Seems hard to believe that in just a few short months, the
boy will be 10!!!
He is our very special boy & is still going
strong doing his pet therapy and keeping up around here with our younger
kids. He is the true "omega" of our 4, and that is such a blessed place
for any golden to be!!! And to think, that he was just another "backyard
- throw-away" dog when Rick rescued him 8 1/2 years ago! The first time
Rick saw him, he was laying on his former family's picnic table in the
backyard, as that was his "home". The family got him to raise with their
newborn baby, thinking that it was such a special thing to do... NOT! He
quickly became a lawn ornament. :-( Such a sad place for an
18 month old golden to be discarded to without any human
interaction - especially in the desert HEAT of Arizona!
Mich was
terrified of going in any cars at first, so you can only imagine what a
challenge that was (many trips to McDonalds & bribery with French
fries)!!! And he was a YACK & a half! Rick got 3 paper grocery
bags full of hair off of him when he first got him home. With a lot of
love, patience & training... he very quickly got his CGC & TDI and
began his pet therapy visits. He did obedience competition with Rick, as
well as agility & tracking! I only wish I'd known Mich back
then. Rick and I met when Mich was 5 years old. He makes us
smile daily with his precious/gentle nature & his goofy "I still have play
in me" antics!!! He is indeed a very special golden!
Anyhow, I'm
sure many of you have all heard the rescue stories before, but I wanted
to share Mich's story for those of you that haven't met him. Just about
everyone that has met Mich, has wanted to take him home with them!!
I wait anxiously for the day that I can get a Brier pup... as
Gina is just about the best breeder there is!!! -- she truly cares about the
temperament, health & well being of all the dogs. While most of her
golden pups & adult dogs are simply striking in appearance... there is
more to her foundation & program than meets the eye! And for that
we'll will always treasure her ethics, her morals, her knowledge & her
true compassion in mentoring her new puppy owners! And let me tell you
from experience, not all golden breeders are even half as wonderful as
Gina! And she wholeheartedly supports rescue 100%, and has been
instrumental in finding new homes for so many goldens!
All of you that have a Brier pup are VERY
FORTUNATE!!!
Golden Hugs,
Yanna, Rick & our GENTLE
GIANT-MICHELOB
