Oh Patti,
What wonderful words, I am in tears... Mixed tears, tears of
warmth and those mournful ones too... It is never easy to say
good bye to our best friends, family, companions ever... But when a
dog has what Alex has had it makes it ok to say good bye and know that
she will live on cherished the way this dog never was:
I just got this from a friend about a rescue she just took in today.
>> thanks....you should see this poor guy, one of the worst
cases we've had in a long while.....five years old, has no hair on his
back or rear end, tail looks like a stick with three hairs on it.
Yesterday, the dog broke his foot, and stupid owner finally takes him to
the vet, where the dog is diagnosed as low thyroid (well, duh!)....also
has corneal ulcers, low tear production, and horrible ear infections, as
well as the broken foot which will probably need surgery. Two years ago
the dog was hit by a car and has pins in his hip from that.....what a
hard luck case....owner finally decides he can't afford to "fix
up" the dog, so he calls rescue.
I was just up in the kennel, closing them in for the night, and putting
all his eye/ear ointments in as he stood on three legs...and through it
all, his tail never stopped wagging, and he gave me a big kiss. What a
sweetie.....straight out of a Kansas puppy mill, too. At least they're
breeding good temperaments. :) <<
