Hi all!
Well--I apologize for not reading this e-mail better the first time
around! I missed the part I was supposed to do! My husband,
Macen, crafted a bucket for our dogs to wear instead of an
e-collar in the event of surgery or, for Gam this summer, a hot
spot. The e-collars for big dogs are just enormous and really
cause a problem in negotiating around small spaces. Macen used
a one-gallon green plant container, the kind you bring plants home
from the nursery in, and cut the bottom out of it. He pierced
the
bottom lower edge with holes about every inch or so. Using one
of our regular dog collars to measure, he pierced corresponding
holes higher in the bucket to match the width of the collar.
He used
sting to lace the collar onto the inside of the bucket using the holes.
With the collar loosely buckled, the bucket can slide on and off the
dog's head with little trouble. The good part about taking it
off is
that the dogs ears are in the way so they can't simply slide out of
it
on their own. The opening is much more narrow than the e-collar
and the dogs are still able to drink with it on. We've found
it easier
for our dogs to use over the years. Please, let me know if my
directions
are unclear and I'll get the designer in on this!
Take care all and hope those hot spots are all cleared up!
