RE: Please read!

Thanks--will do!

All is well. We spent 2 hours at the dog field tonight and had so much fun. They are both pooped out now. Rocket has a hot spot so that's the only bad thing. And of course the wacko sniper killing people in our area! They better not aim for Milka or Rocket!

Gina,

Any advice for those of us not near the clinics?

Thanks, Karin

Hi Karin, et others away,

Go to this link for a listing of DACVO Veterinary Ophthalmologist in your area:

http://www.vet.purdue.edu/~yshen/cerf.html

You can call the eye vet closest to you and either make an appointment for their office, or enquire if the vet is going to be at a private low cost clinic anytime soon.  The type of test or appointment you want to ask for is a CERF exam.  You do not want a "ophthalmologic appointment"  those normally will run from $80.00 up.  CERF only exam which is a comprehensive exam will be like $40.00.

Option B: Kennel Club hosted clinic

These are often run by all-breed kennel clubs and are at dog shows.  Also you can check the GRCA site: www.grca.org for the closest Golden Club (GRC) near you, contact the club ask them when they are planning on hosting a CERF clinic near you. Kennel Club clinics are going to be the most cost effective clinics at between $25.00 to $35.00 per dog.

If you get this done, make 2 copies of the form you will be provided and send me a copy and keep a copy in your records.  You would send me a copy for my records and so  I can submit it to VetGen for the study.   On the back of the CERF form is instructions on how to submit the form to CERF but we also need to submit to VetGen so do make copies, original has to go to CERF.  Cost is $10.00 per submission.  You will need a copy of your AKC registration to fill out your part of the form for any exam...  These instructions are usually given by the clinic but you have a heads up...

Karin- you should have a copy of Rocket's eye clearance in the stuff that IIene sent with him to look at for an example...

How are things going with Rocket and Milka, I assume good since you have been so quite!  Or maybe just to busy being a referee? <evil grin>

Hope this helps!
