RE: the multi dog adjustment HELP for Peggy

Hi Peggy,

Can you give me some idea of what exactly is going on between Katie &
AmEx? How long have they been together (exact ages, etc...) What kinds
of issues are concerning you?

Rick and I merged his family of 3 goldens (at the time) and my 2 golden
kids together 4 years ago... so we've pretty much seen it all. :-) I'm
cc'ing Rick on this note, as he is much more "behavior savvy" than I am.

Feel free to respond privately (unless the list would find this topic
interesting)... and others might have some ideas for you as well.

Yanna

Subject: the multi dog adjustment HELP for Peggy

Hi All,

I need some help here from those of you who have multiple dogs. Well I
don't but Peggy does... Peggy has Katie from the Casino litter and she
also adopted our AmEx about 3 weeks ago. AmEx has two missing teeth and

with that we can not show him or breed him. Judy and I felt it was best

for AmEx to move on and Peggy was wanting another dog for a play mate
for
Katie. Katie is a fairly quiet dog like so many of you have told me
about
your Sprite and Gidget kids and as I have also observed myself with
these
babies... Katie is well socialized, she goes to day care has for ever
and
gets along well with all dogs. AmEx is mellow but in my opinion more up

more animated in general than the Casino kids, he too is well socialized

and has always been very playful here and at Judy's, so we are a bit
stumped. I personally think that there has not been enough time passage

for adjustment but Peggy has some concerns, I am going to ask Peggy to
take
it from here and it's my hopes that others can give her some insights
and
encouragement though your own experiences. It's not a matter of fights
or
aggression, both dogs are very sweet.

Yanna you might have some pearls of wisdom to share after merging two
households of dogs?

Thanks,

Gina
