Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know how Annie (Casino
litter) is doing after her hip surgery (for hip displasia). She had a
Darthoplasty done on her left hip on Monday, January 28th,
came home on Wednesday the 30th and we stopped by to see Grandma Gina and
Grandpa George. Annie was really glad to see them!! Annie looks a
little strange as she is shaved from the middle of her tummy, all the way
around, down to her paws . . .
Surprisingly she is doing quite well after a
week. Initially she had some trouble walking when she first came home,
but has gotten steadily stronger on her left leg. Originally Dr. Tom
VanGundy, from Portland, was going to do surgery on both hips. Annie's
left hip had gotten quite a bit worse since her X-ray in December and he felt
it was too risky to do both hips. Annie's next checkup is 2/12 and if
everything goes well, she'll have surgery on her other hip in approx 1
month.
This has been quite an experience for John &
I . . . but I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to Gina. She has been
sooo supportive and caring. Some times we don't really realize how
special people are until you really need them and they're right there to help,
answer questions and give hugs. OK Gina, you got me teary eyed, but we
still love you!!
It looks like Annie will have very limited
exercise for 2-3 months - she's supposed to be confined to an exercise pen
except when we take her out on a leash to go potty. We are really
looking forward to having Annie up again on all 4 feet and anxious to go to
the park to walk, run & play.
Take care & if you haven't told Gina/George
lately how special they are, JUST DO IT!!
Hugs to all!!
John & Ruth Dolezal &
ANNIE!!
