Leigh,
I sincerely hope not! Which reminds me of this story: When Peaches had
her 14 it was an awful experience, like a full 24 hours of whelping 48 no
sleep... It goes on. When I took Scarlette in to be x-rayed with her
first litter and they said to many to count I thought I was going to
faint. Thank goodness Ellen was with me to hold me up and explain to the
vet why I was about to bust into tears. If you want to make me cry and
loose sleep just tell me my girl has to many to count... Anything over 10
on a x-ray means possible trouble. I vote for moderation. Not like
Sprite, but more like 8, 8 is a good even number, two trips when they are
small enough to carry 4 at a time and 2 trips when you have help... :-)
Things we are going to diffrent with Gidget's litter: 1. talked to the vet
yesterday about not repeating the giardia adventure. One trip down that
road was enough... So at 4 weeks she is going to have me use horse Panacur
(same as dog just more concentrated and cost less) Then again just before
go home.
We are also going to litter box train the puppies. I have essentially done
this in the past by putting the chips only in the corner of the deck but we
are going to this time contain the chips in a cement mixing tray. This
will hopefully keep them from playing in their poop as much hence hopefully
help in control of giardia and coccidia.
I know not very interesting to most of you...
Gina :-)
