Rocky's memorial & Thanksgiving
Hi All,
I have gotten a couple of posts recently (not from this list membership)
wondering if I received any donation acknowledgement from GRCA. I have not
received any as of yet. I just wanted to tell you all that the GRCA is BIG
and it takes time for things to be processed. The GRCA is run solely by
volunteers, with the exception of the Editor of the GR-News and her
Assistant Editor. So if you are wondering as others have it just takes
time. <smile>
Thanks to all of you for your understanding and support. It's been a month
yesterday and while we do sorely miss the Roo Roo the tears are getting
fewer and further between. The laughs and memories are becoming more vivid
and days gone by have taken their place in our hearts where they belong.
>>All donors and memorials will be acknowledged by letter and
will be listed in the GRNews. If you do not wish recognition in
the GRNews, please indicate. <<
Next week brings a special day: Thanksgiving and while we all enjoy the
holidays and the special food that comes along with it, it's a time we all
need to be extra cautious with our animals. Both cats ad dogs.
:-) Please don't over do the tidbit, passing out the skin and fat from
your Turkey dinner to your pets. Make sure you safely dispose of all the
cooked bones. One thing we have always done in the past is to boil down
the carcass of the turkey, make a soup and share it with the dogs. If you
do this it's best to skim off the excess fat.
A long time ago I had a Siamese cat named Mesha. Mesha, was a totally
indoor cat but around Thanksgiving one year I moved. Mesha got out and was
gone through the holiday. When we found her she was very ill. She had
spent a week out living off the apartment complex garbage. She was
diagnosed with a severe Pancreatic disorder from her diet of only one week.
Just keep this in mind and be careful!
