Time to Spay/Neuter

So, its getting close to the time (6 months old) when the Vet says we
should spay Miss Maple. We figured to do that in mid October, giving enough
time for recovery before the Dopey Duo spends a week at Gina's while we go
to my mother's 70th birthday party in Florida.

Do people have thoughts on this? 6 months seems to be the standard these
days.

Oh, I called Canine Caviar direct. They are willing to ship directly from
their Seattle warehouse to us for $30 a bag, plus $3 shipping. I think that
makes it a few dollars cheaper than Petopia was charging if you figure in
the shipping. The only downside is that we are responsible for reordering,
but thats what computers are for! Anyway, we ordered a bag and hope to
switch the Duo back over to Canine Caviar in the next week or so.  The
