beach trip-long

Good Morning All,

We had a great time yesterday and didn't get home till really late. This
always is the case when it's a nice day on the Oregon coast. We don't have
that many or you would not know by me anyway. As when ever I go it's cold
windy and just not my idea of the beach. Where Carolyn lives is my idea of
the beach... This day was perfect...

A couple of dog stories:

First Rocky, had a blast! Was the first one in the "pool" Got out of the
truck and wam down the bluff into the water. I think he might come back as
a fish. Just hope it's not a Salmon. <snicker> We took five dogs with us,
Kaycee, Rocky, Haus, SeaJay, and TRiX. After a swim we went up on the
bluff where there was a grass area to dry off a bit before getting back
into the car. We were sitting there chatting with some people who stopped
to admire the dogs. We had everyone on leash and I had a hold of four and
George was responsible for Rocky. Those of you who know George know what a
social animal he is and those who know Rocky know he lives to swim and
fetch...

There was a guy with a Rott so I was on alert. The guy with the Rott came
up the bluff and the dog was dry. I had given "Bear" a cookie earlier so
we had spoke. I asked why was Bear dry? The man replied there was a dog
out in the bay swimming so he didn't want to let Bear loose. We all turn
and look, it was ROCKY! Mind you he was a good 50 yards out in the
bay. From where we were on the bluff it was a good 75 yards to the waters
edge. So off went George to retrieve Rocky, who would not get out of the
pool. Took several bumpers to get him to come in... Then,,, Rocky was put
in the truck to rest, George left the hatch open we do this all the time as
the 500 and 400 crate in the rear block the exit well enough usually. I was
enjoying the sunshine and busy keeping the 4 leashes I was in charge of
untangled. The next thing I knew Rocky was headed down the bluff again for
the water... Now this means he had to climb over the 400 crate and jump
from oh I would say at least 5 feet to the ground to get out of the
truck... I say Fish...

Kaycee, really enjoyed herself. Remember Kaycee grew up at the beach was 5
when we moved to Oregon from San Diego. She swam and ran and just did what
dogs do at the beach... Smiled all day.

SeaJay is another fish. We took him with vet's blessing since the sand
would be soft on his foot and the wounds are all closed up well now. He
gave Rocky a run for every bumper and just really enjoyed his day...

Haus was a sight! He was not worried about the water (I thought he might
be tenitive) Nope just right in the middle of everything. He too had a blast.

TRiX I was sure would get to the waters edge and put on the breaks like
most puppies do first time they see the water. Heck no! Head first, back
wet with in 5 seconds... I guess I should have known... She had a blast
and shivering didn't stop her, the water was a bit cool. Tried to wrap her
in a towel and hold her to warm her up, nope nothing doing, she was right
out there with the big dogs...

We also spent some time up north of Cannon Beach at a park called Oswald
West State Park. We were going to head home via hwy 26 but the road was
closed due to a accident which is normal for that highway... We were glad
to find this park, took the dogs on foot bridges and through the trails
down to the beach. Picture the forest meeting the beach with all the lush
green water type plants little sun light cool wet that Oregon is famous
for... I will post some pictures later. I have some digital I can share
right way but most of the dog photo's were taken with the 35mm so it will
be a week or so on those...

Tomorrow off to Mt Hood and visits with Riley and Hunter in our travels.
