Party Animal update
Read through the stories from the weekend. WOW! Sounds like the little
ones are having fun now!
> although I can't say we have seen any difference in her behaviour today!
They have a really short memory, don't they! Monza was growled at &
air-nipped by my friend's 6 year old Golden a few weeks ago. I can't
believe how high of a yip Monza can have! And, how quickly those pads can
get traction on linoleum. We got them back together, though, and Monza knew
his place.....well, for a little while. Scary to hear these puppies yipping
with slicked back ears when they're usually so quiet. When Monza met the
little slimeball Yorkie rat, who is a week older than him, he just stood
there as stoic as a marble statute letting the thing make gremlin noises at
him and nip at him. He has MUCH more tolerance than me with that little
thing. (sorry to those of you who may own one....)
Speaking of togetherness, Boots (you know the cranky, old cat) and Monza are
sort of co-existing during visits. Boots did a get a little fluffed, but no
growl & hiss or attacking with Monza within 15 feet. I'm hoping Monza gets
the picture that big, bad Boots wants nothing to do with him.....sort of
like my grandmother, but that's ANOTHER story!
The story about boating with Hunter (it was Hunter, right?) was soooooo
tempting. Monza would've loved it! He only got to explore a quarry pond a
couple of miles from my house yesterday. To say he loves the water is an
understatement. He finally figured out what to do with those gigantic
feet - splashing! and then eat the splash and ripples. After retrieving a
stick from the water more than a few times, he moved on to smelling
it.....yes, smelling the water. No, make that snorting, and then after
snorting came blowing bubbles. I was so mad at myself for not bring the
camera. Especially after he continued to go back to a protruding rock and
stand on it like Washington crossing the Potomac. After that little
escapade, he zonked out in my arms while riding around in a friend's MG.
The little man LOVES to ride.....I know I've said that before, but his
change in demeanor just amazes me.
Oh - must tell you that Monza, the little party animal, is having longer
moments of cool & calm. He does his Silly Puppy rampage (tear around the
house, picking up & dropping toys) only once a day, and we're working on the
biting. I think he's finally getting the idea - fleeting moments - that
biting hurts. Most of the time, he goes to the door and either wipes his
paw on it or sits there to go outside. halleluiah. Tried to Dremel his
nails just a bit to get him used to it. I think he wanted me to Dremel his
teeth, though?!
