Re: All of You-shots and the likes

Hi Lori,

As far as I know now, correct me somebody if I'm wrong is that Kansas State
University is still the only place to have rabies titers done. I haven't
ever bothered about doing that because I didn't want to buck city hall and
state law on that issue since they will not accept a titer in place of the
vaccine, with the exception of elderly animals and a vet's statement, and
based on where we live I did want the protection as high as possible. We see
coyote and wolves all the time where we walk and you never know what's going
to happen sometimes. Those damn coyotes are bold as brass tacks up here. So,
anyhow... I don't titer for rabies, I just get the shot.

Lori are in a place that requires yearly rabies shots? if so you might want
to check into using Lysine and Thuja after the shot to help the immune
system rebound.

ohh heck... I just looked down and saw that you ARE on a three year
schedule, lol. I get the first shot which has to be repeated in a year and
then stay with the 3 year schedule. Rosie just got her rabies shot last week
with no problems afterwards.

I've never bothered with the single dose vaccines since it's my
understanding, again somebody tell me if I don't understand this correctly,
that you've got to buy them in 25 shot lots. I don't have enough dogs to
make this feasible for me. Linda? I know your vet is slowly coming around
but have you broached the single shot issue yet?

Gina? what do you and Judy do? I know Judy uses the combo and I think you do
as well, just a different manufacturer. Great topic btw.
