Jake is in overnight emergency clinic

Title: Message
We want to say thank you so very much for all the pawsitive notes of support & encouragement.  We have simply been in total awe of all the outpouring of complete love & caring from our friends in the golden community!!!

The past several days have been "beyond stressful" for us, worrying about our boy Jake!  Knowing that we've had the prayers and good wishes of so many has helped beyond belief!  We feel incredibly blessed to be part of such a widespread golden network of friends!

We went & collected Sir Jake from our Vet's office around 6:45 this evening & got the complete lowdown from two of our Vets regarding his surgery.  Apparently all three of the Vets in the practice we go to, participated in Jacob's surgery.  His surgery took quite a bit longer than anticipated -- about an hour & 45 minutes.  We are extremely fortunate that we got him in when we did.  The surgery was indeed critical & "life saving"... but it could have been so much worse.  Adam & Jeff (our Vets) were very pleased with how his stomach, intestines & bowels looked when they got in there & after they cleaned out the remnants of the last knee high nylon & parts of my bra.  There was no damage to his internal organs -- THANK GOD!!!

At the advice of our local team of experts... we decided to move Jake to an overnight emergency care clinic for round the clock monitoring.  They were completely comfortable with us taking Jake home... but really felt it was best if he was in the hands of professionals for the evening.  He will be on IV's all night.  He was very groggy when we picked him up... but did wag his tail when he saw his Mommy & Daddy!  We took a t-shirt of Rick's for him to cuddle with and his favorite "safe" Teddy Bear woobie to keep him snuggly throughout the evening.

We are picking him up first thing in the morning & taking him back to our Vet's for monitoring for the day tomorrow.  He will likely be well enough to come home with us tomorrow evening.  He is definitely NOT out of the woods yet -- as the first 48 hours are critical in fighting off infection from the surgery.

When we arrived at the emergency clinic... we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by one of our local "golden friends" who works there part time (and we didn't even know it)!!!  It was very comforting to see Kim there with her smiling face -- it definitely helped to alleviate some anxiety in leaving our baby boy there for the evening.

Rick will update more tomorrow.  Right now we are incredibly exhausted and hope we can get some rest tonight.  This has definitely been the BIGGEST scare of my life -- my boy Jake is the love of my life (and of his Daddy's life too).

doG bless everyone for your wonderful support!

Yanna & Rick
