Toys are a security thing with Gidget, if she is at all stressed or just
happy, she will gather up toys and take them into a crate or behind
something and tell the other dogs that they are hers... In the kennel if
she is out there and there are no toys around just look in the dog
house... One would think she would use these skills to help me around the
house, but no... :-))

I have a big rubber maid tub that I keep baby puppy toys in that also
doubles as my ready box, so when I cleaned it out before the pup's were
born I put all the toys in a cardboard box in the bathroom that is in the
whelping room. Day two she must have gone in and rummaged through the box,
as I found a Nylabone, a rope toy and three balls under the pig rail of the
box under the shurpa pad safe and sound.

Even as a little tike in the litter she did this. It was very common for
her to greet us every morning after about 4 weeks of age talking with a toy
in her mouth just quivering with excitement front paws up on the barrier,
eyes big and smile going ear to ear and her butt doing the wiggle. This is
why she is called Gidget, she was the small pup in the litter [Gidget means
little] and remember the charter that Sally Fields played: Gidget, ever
notice how Sally Fields sort of looks like a golden? That smile ear to ear
and her soft but very dark brown eyes, and in many of those movies there
was dancing. There you have it... Auntie Ellen actually came up with the
name and I made the connection to Sally, though I am sure this is what
Ellen was referring to. Gidget The Widget Fidget....

Best,

Gina
