Re: Hydrogen Peroxide

Hi Leigh,

I can vouch for Gina on this one and tell a little story
about her, too!  Hope she won't want to shoot me next
time we want another pup!!!  When we went to pick up
Bogey, Gina was trying to finish up feeding her pack and
clean up the kitchen.  I knew from the first time we talked
to her that she is just an amazing person and this visit
confirmed that.  She took us back to see Bogey and Sprite
and when she went back to the kitchen the sponge she'd
used for cleaning was gone.  Twister had had a little snack!

She calmly administered hydrogen peroxide straight from
the drugstore bottle and explained what she was doing.
Then, she handed over Bogey and answered all of our
questions extremely graciously while waiting for Twister
to vomit up the sponges.  Incredibly she never once seemed
frazzled or broke her stride.  She even thought to e-mail us
that night and give us an update on Twister.  We are just
so lucky to have these Brier dogs!

I now keep hydrogen peroxide around, too and thanks
for that reminder Leigh.

Take care all, Lori

So, our first dog was the ultimate consumer dog; everything went into his
mouth, no matter what it was, what it tasted like, how many sharp edges it
had. Quite a battle. Anyway, our vet told us that Hydrogen Peroxide works
very well when your dog swallows something really bad. A couple of
tablespoons (usually poured down the throat from the bottle while you have
the dogs head tilted back), and 3-5 minutes later everything comes back
up. Looks horrible, but its not really all that bad.

Anyway, this saved us a couple of times with Acer. The Vet assured us every
which way that this was safe.

So, I guess Gina gets to put the stamp of approval (or the jackhammer of
death) on it.
