I'm pretty sure you're supposed to use a rolled up newspaper-not e-mailed
puppy instructions--for discipline!!! ; ) That will be
the extent of my
expertise in puppy raising on this list! Everyone I asked--Gina,
dog friends,
vet--all said to wait until the last set of shots was administered
before taking
the puppy around unknown dogs. Our puppy got to go to the bus
stop to
meet dogs who are vaccinated, etc. Then I talked to the vet,
same one who
told me to wait, and he was taking his 12-week-old puppy to obedience
classes already?! So...the conservative answer is wait until
you're sure your
pup is protected but not everyone--even vets--do wait.
Now, for a quick intro. I'm Lori and my husband is Macen.
We have two
children, Brandon (4) and Kaitie (7). We are owned by Brier's
Triple Bogey
from Sprite's litter born last fall. Bogey is now eight-months-old
or so and
is an unbelievably wonderful dog. We are finishing up intemediate
obedience
classes with him now and will go on to agility classes and therapy
dog
training. The woman who runs Bogey's classes continually raves
about him--
he is so calm, bright, obedient. I have no doubt that all the
new pups will
be even greater than Bogey given their parents and the breeder.
I have been enjoying all your posts and the pictures are incredible.
What a
bunch of beautiful Goldens! I look forward to watching them grow.
I will
also try to give better answers than today's example to any new puppy
questions but there are already lots of experts here so hopefully I
can just
tune in and learn.
Thanks all and hugs to all those beautiful babies,
Lori
