Testbed Version 1.0
Testbed Version 1.0 (April 2000):
- Hardware setup of pieces ordered as of 2/00. We
will use the Intel switches in version 1.0. There will be 40 PCs with
some as yet undetermined number of DNARDS off switches (providing that
the racks come in in a reasonable time frame.)
- Firewall in place.
- Mapping algorithm finished.
- Switch control tool in place.
- A default software environment.
FreeBSD will be the default OS for the PCs, NetBSD for the DNARDS.
- Version 1.0 delay nodes in place. This could be as simple
as our current DUMMYNET implementation.
Testbed version 2.0 (June 2000):
- Simple software distribution mechanism in place.Current
but very capricious thinking is to use netboot. Steve estimates this will
take two weeks at a minimum.
- Generic cluster software. Accounts, reservation, etc.. We should
hoping to leverage existing cluster software.
- Version 1.0 "remote control system" in place. The above but
will allow delay of some events.
- Partial ns integration. (This is already done; just adding it
here to show it's done.
- Version 2.0 delay nodes in place. This is a more complicated delay
node that is portable and allows a wide variety of traffic specifications.
- Default configuration setup/reset in place.Again, FreeBSD
for PCs, NetBSD for DNARDS. Adds to version 1.0 the ability
to reset.
.
Not done in version 1.0 or 2.0:
- Traffic generation.
- Data logging.
- Visual, real-time monitoring.
- Full ns integration.
- Remote support.
- Other.
