Personal airline compartments. Planes would be containerized shipping units. You would go to a passenger station, pick out a compartment, settle into it. There might be 6 -8 people in a compartment. It would be driven to the airport, locked into the plane body, with electrical and corridor connections. Beverages and food would be delivered via pneumatic tubes, or you might have them preloaded into your compartment. Upon landing, the compartment would be disconnected and driven to the car rental building or parking lot of your choice.
